| Tragedy
in Clarkston
A tragedy struck Clarkston last Thursday, Jan. 24 and by extension the Camas Prairie. 31-year old Elizabeth Duman of Clarkston apparently fired multiple gunshots at her children, murdering one and badly injuring two others before killing herself according to reports from the Asotin County Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement officials were called to the Duman home at 2860 Scenic Hills Drive in the Clarkston Heights at 12:22 p.m. Thursday after William Sohn Duman arrived home and found the horrific scene. Abraham Alexander Duman, 21 months, was killed and a 2 month old baby girl and 3-year old boy were taken to a local hospital and eventually transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. The infant girl, Ruby Rose Duman, was in critical condition as of Saturday night and the boy, Johannes Duman was upgraded from serious to satisfactory condition. Both are suffering from gunshot wounds. Authorities are keeping full details of the shooting to themselves until the full investigation has been completed. Authorities say it could be a year before the last of the reports are completed. Both Sohn and Elizabeth Seubert Duman grew up in the Cottonwood area and are graduates of Prairie High School. The couple had 8 children in all with the oldest being 10 years old. The older children attend Heights Elementary School in Clarkston. Already our local community is coming to the Duman family’s aid as Prairie Release Time’s Mardi Gras Spaghetti Feed is splitting their proceeds with the Dumans and you can donate financially to the family through any branch of the Wells Fargo Bank. Accounts have also been set up at US Bank and Cottonwood Credit Union as well as Potlatch No. 1 Federal Credit Union and Twin Rivers National Bank in the LC Valley. Funeral services for Elizabeth and Abraham are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lewiston. |
