Quilters seek names of local veterans for Quilts of Valor
Prairie Quilters is a group of ladies in Cottonwood, Ferdinand, Greencreek, and Keuterville who want to honor local veterans by giving them a quilt in honor of their service. We make Quilts of Valor for all military men and women from all branches of service in the area.
We started in 2015 and distributed over 200 quilts to veterans in and from our local communities. We are again wanting to gather names of local veterans who have not yet received a Quilt of Valor. We know there are some new veterans in the area and have received a few names from the American Legion and VFW. If you know of someone or if you are a Veteran, please contact Judy Forsman 208-553-1299, or Lynn Sonnen 208-962-7096 and we will send you a simple form to fill out.
Late winter and early spring is a great time for quilting! We could also use a few more people to help us sew these quilts. If you are a quilter and would like to help us, you are more than welcome to join our effort. We provide fabric, batting and the backing along with the size parameters. If you want to put your own quilt together and quilt it you may do so – we will just provide you with some of the guidelines. For more information on helping make quilts, contact Judy Forsman 208-553-1299.
