To the Library and Beyond
By now we might expect all the Prairie Community Library volunteers to be busy moving the Library back into the Community Hall.
Welcome to National Library Week, April 7-13, “a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the United States each April, [to promote] library use and support.”  Tuesday, April 9 is National Library Workers Day, a great day to “[appreciate] library workers for their expertise, hard work, and dedication.”  Check out Friends of Prairie Community Library on Facebook “to acknowledge [our Library volunteers].”  Wednesday, April 10 is Encourage A Young Writer Day as well as National Bookmobile Day.  Thursday, April 11 is Celebrate Teen Literature Day.  If you haven’t already taken advantage of the month-long encouragement to “Drop Everything And Read,” Friday, April 12 is a reminder of that invitation.  Saturday, April 13 is National Scrabble Day.
In 2019, librarian volunteers served the 2,349 people who visited Prairie Community Library.  In 2020, volunteers added 519 items to the Library collection.
The volunteers who manage Prairie Community Library are committed to analyzing and sharing the data we gather to determine the needs of our community.  We are committed to sustaining the Library as a community center.  We are committed to making a difference.  We encourage our patrons to recommend improvements to the organization’s direction, priorities and customer service when we reopen.
Remember to volunteer by sending your message to cottonwoodlib@gmail.com.  We are enormously grateful for all our donors and volunteers!
