To the Library and Beyond
Library volunteers have been moving shelving back into their “home” space.  We are hoping to move the remaining shelves on Thursday, April 18 at 5:30 PM and Saturday, April 19 at 8 AM.  We appreciate the enormous help of all volunteers.
Can we challenge ourselves to find more enjoyable Diversity during the last two weeks of April?  Will we rejoice in our Financial Wellness?  Will we remember to Drop Everything And Read whenever we can?  Perhaps we’ll find a new Appreciation for Jazz?
On Monday, April 22 the theme of this year’s “Earth Day” is “Planet vs. Plastic,” Raising Awareness Of Plastic Pollution.
On Tuesday – and every year on April 23 – there are two events observed.  “World Book And Copyright Day” is a promotion of reading enjoyment as people all over the world acclaim the scope of books that link the past and the future, bridging generations and cultures.  The other event, “National Talk Like Shakespeare Day” might also be called Thespians Day or “Ham it up” day.  Do you enjoy talking like Shakespeare?  “English Language Day” is scheduled Tuesday, April 23 to celebrate the English language at the United Nations.
Thursday, April 25 is National “Poem In Your Pocket Day,” a little something extra for National Poetry Month.  Do you enjoy writing poetry to pass time while you wait for someone?
Saturday, April 27 isNational Tell A Story Day” and as the last Saturday of April it is also “Independent Bookstore Day.”
In 2018, Library volunteers loaned 2,198 Items; in 2022 there were 665 attendees at Story Hour.  Volunteering can provide job prospects and helps us meet and make new friends.  You can volunteer by sending your message to cottonwoodlib@gmail.com.  "Great acts are made up of small deeds."
Prairie Community Library aspires to reward those who imagine a future reality even better than the present and chart a course towards that goal.  Many thanks to all our donors and volunteers!
