September
The Youth Field restroom design and construction was approved.
The hospital received a grant to help fight bio-terrorism.
At the Monday, Sept. 15, school board meeting it was announced that superintendent Stan Kress would go to a part-time position.
Students added a sculpture to the front of Prairie High School as part of an art project.
Deaths
Leonard A. “Len” Kuther, 83, died Aug 25th in Lewiston. Len was a long-time Cottonwood businessman and was born Feb. 9, 1920 to Joseph and Antoinette Weis Kuther, the oldest of nine children.
Francis John Mager, 84, died Aug. 10th Born July 16, 1919, at Keuterville.
George J. Crea, 84, died Sept. 1st following a long illness. He was born Feb. 21, 1919 at Fenn to William J. and Mary A. Toennis Crea.
Carol J. Smith, 73, died last week at her home in Lewiston. She was born Nov. 19, 1929 in Placerville, Calif.
Andrew Lurwig, 91, died Sept 12th in Grangeville. He was born Nov. 25, 1911 in Hungary. He served in the Hungarian Army during World War II before coming to Ferdinand in 1951.

Anthony David Goeckner was born Aug. 27th to Stephen and Deanna Goeckner.
Jayden Rose Brady was born Sept. 8th to Vanessa Grant and Jonathan Brady.
Leighton Reed Moody was born Aug. 30th to John and Lori Moody of Clarkston.

LeeAnn Westhoff married Philip Sullivan July 12, 2003 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Meridian, ID.
Tonya M. Uhlorn married Victor R. Fernandez June 14 at Assumption Catholic Church in Ferdinand.

Denis Duman has filed for the position of mayor in the November election for the city.

Cindy Schumacher’s first grade class make mini-apple pies to remember “Johnny Appleseed” who was born John Chapman Sept. 26, 1774.
Members of the Cottonwood Lion’s Club began to pour concrete to replace the bike path in City Park.
Construction is in progress on the rest room, storage and refreshment building at the Youth Fields.
Angela Schumacher and John Gehring are Homecoming King and Queen at the football game Friday, Oct. 10th with Potlatch.
Halloween saw the growth of Scarecrows on King and Main Streets in front of businesses in Cottonwood.
John J. “Jack” Duman has declared as a write-in candidate for councilman in the city election in November.

Vincent Paul Enneking, 82, died Oct. 2nd at his son’s home in Hermiston, Ore. Vince was born Sept. 23, 1921 in Keuterville to Fred and Ida Enneking.
Fr. James Francis Shinnick, 91, died Oct. 2nd in Jerome. He was born June 28, 1912 in County Cork, Ireland.
N.J. Dreps, 82, died Sept. 6th in Portsmouth, VA. Norb grew up in Cottonwood.
Theodore P. Klapprich, 69, died Oct. 1st in Clackamas, Ore. He was born Nov. 5th, 1933, in Cottonwood to Harry and Elizabeth Klapprich.
Sr. Radegunda Bishofberger, 101, died Oct. 19, at the Monastery of St. Gertrude. She was born March 18, 1902, in Appenzill, Switzerland.
Louise VonBargen, 99, died Oct 22nd. She was born April 15, 1904, in Keuterville to Hubert and Mary G. Hattrup.
Jesse B. Nightengale, 90, died Oct 19th. He was born Oct 4, 1913 at Walla Walla, Wash. to William and Nora Nightengale.

Rachel Deanna Downing and Craig Lawrence Stubbers to wed Nov. 29, 2003 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at Greencreek.

Joshua Gordon Sonnen was born Oct. 24th to Teresa and Gordon Sonnen of Renton, Wash.
Honored
Vincent and Claudine Uhlenkott celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They were married at Ferdinand and now live at Clarkston. They have five children and 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Bridget Long and Mindy Anderson are students of the month for October at Prairie High School.
Frank Spencer receives the Scout Light of Christ medal.
The Cottonwood Community Choir practices for Christmas singing and the celebration of 25 years.
The Cub and Boy Scouts collected 1000 pounds of food in their annual food drive with the food going to the local food bank.
Jessma Barrani and Amanda Jackson were students of the month for November at the High School.
Terry Cochran received the “Idaho County Officer of the Year” award, at a party Nov. 21st before he left for service in Iraq
The national Christmas tree made a stop in Cottonwood on Tuesday on its way from the Boise National Forest to Washington, D.C.

Queenie Kay Ring, 53, died Oct. 10 at Moses Lake, Wash. She was born July 12, 1950 and moved to Cottonwood in 1957.
Mary A. Sprute, 90, died Nov. 2 in Grangeville. She was born April 19, 1913 to Clem and Philimena Uhlorn Frei of Ferdinand.
Philip W. Ingram, 90, died Nov. 10 at Nezperce. He was born March 16, 1923 in Peck, Idaho.
George Raymond Henry, 99, died Oct. 25 in Arizona. He was born Nov. 8, 1903 in South Dakota. He and his wife moved to Cottonwood in June 1955.
Josephine A. Trautman, 89, died Nov. 16 at Cottonwood. She was born Sept. 7, 1914 to John and Mary Hoener Trautman in Greencreek. She was the 6th of 11 children.

Mason Thomas McHugh was born Oct. 16 to Ryan and Candice McHugh.
Travis Day Alfrey was born Nov. 7 to Pat and Lonnie Alfrey of Ferdinand.

Joe Seubert sold the Kamiah branch of Seubert Insurance.
The city annexes City Airport property.
With the improved city volunteer fire department and the addition of well #5 to the water system the fire rating for Cottonwood has dropped from 5 to 4.
The hospital received a bequest of $295,000 from the estate of Grace Gertje of Nezperce and Orofino.
Greencreek Hall received a grant and is undergoing an interior and exterior improvement.

Fr. William A. Caspers, 77, died Dec. 12 at Mountain Home, Idaho. He was born June 16, 1926 in Ogema, Minn.
