Summit teams win 1, lose 2
Summit Academy high school girls split a couple of games this past week, winning for the third time over a Pullman High School C team by a score of 44 to 24. Saturday the Lady Patriots traveled to Logos for a rematch of an earlier game won by Summit, but despite roaring out to a 23 to 13 lead in the second quarter, the local girls slowly fell off the pace, and able to score only 5 points the entire second half, fell by a margin of seven.
Individual game and player stats were unavailable at the time of this printing.
Saturday also, Summit boys traveled again to Logos, and survived one of their worst outings of the year. Having lost to Logos by 17 points earlier in the year, with a team reduced at the time by illness to six players, Summit had high hopes of returning home with a victory.
It was not meant to be however, as the Patriots had one of their worst shooting nights of the year, able to connect on only nine of 48 field goal attempts, and, gambling a lot on defense in the second half, allowed Logos to score several easy buckets at the end. The result, a 56 to 24 loss, one of the worst of the year for the local team.
With a terrible first quarter on one for nine shooting, Summit fell behind 14 to 3 in the first, scored only 4 in the second to close first half activity down 33 to 7. The second half was much better, as a more patient and deliberate Summit team matched Logos six to six in the third, but gambling on defense, were outscored 17 to 11 in the final.
The game was Logos’s 14th victory against 3 losses for the season, and left Summit with a season 7 and 8 record.
Scoring for Summit: Greene – 9, Wemhoff – 9, and two each from Jake Uhlenkott, Brandon Rehder, and Ben Kuther.
Next action for both girls and boys is a tourney at Logos this weekend, with fist games being played Thursday afternoon and evening.
