4-H'ers to attend Know Your Government conference
More than 160 Idaho 4-H members will hear from the state’s top leaders during the 16th annual Know Your Government Conference (KYG) in Boise February 14 to 16 during the Presidents Day Holiday.Idaho County's Know Your Government delegates.
The Idaho County 4-H Program is sending five delegates to the conference this year.  Kayla Uhlenkott, daughter of Pat & Connie Uhlenkott, Carolyn Sonnen, daughter of Greg & Colleen Sonnen, Wendy Ray, daughter of Dennis & Linda Ray, Kylie Uhlorn, daughter of Darrel & Mary Uhlorn, and Nichele Carpentier, daughter of Gary & Corina Carpentier attended the conference as delegates.  Each delegate received a scholarship to attend the conference.  Scholarship sponsorship for the delegates was provided by the Idaho County Extension Homemakers Council, the Elk City Community, and the Pete Stuck Memorial Scholarship sponsored by the McCarthy Foundation.
The 4-H members will learn about how government works in the executive, legislative and judicial branches, receiving hands-on experiences.  Delegates will attend legislative workshops, tour the Statehouse, hold mock committee meetings, debate bills before the Legislature and watch legislators at work.  Delegates will also tour the Idaho Supreme Court and participate in a mock trial.
Know Your Government is a statewide program of UI Extension and the State 4-H Office. The event is held annually during the Presidents Day weekend.  Major sponsors of the conference include: Ada County Farm Bureau, D.L. Evans Bank, Idaho 4?H Endowment Fund, Idaho Grain Producers Association, Idaho Law Foundation; Idaho Potato Commission, Idaho Power Company, J.R. Simplot Co., Monsanto, and WestCoast Hotel.
