Junior High Knowledge Bowl ends season
Monday night’s competition at Grangeville ended the 2003-04 junior high knowledge bowl season, with Grangeville firmly in first place, followed by the eight other teams in the league, final standings not available at this time.
Summit Academy’s sole entry, a team of five consisting of 8th graders, Zach Frei and Lynn Rehder, and 7th graders Kim Frei, Dustin Lustig, and Brianne Stubbers started very slowly in round one, failing to score for six questions, then started to click, and moved slowly up through rounds two and three, finding themselves in the top half of the 15-team pack at the end of round three. A gambling 50-point wager on a math question set them back, however, leaving them in 11th place for the evening.
Nezperce finished first on this particular evening, with a CV team second, and then a group of host Grangeville teams filling up several of the next spots.
Final competition for the high school portion of the league concludes Monday evening, May 10th, with Summit battling to regain their second place position lost last time due to lack of availability of contestants. Grangeville also is firmly entrenched in first place in the high school division.
