Pastor's Pen
by Buzz Dahlen
So many of us believe that there is a God.  This God we believe in is very powerful, if not all-powerful.  Those of us, who believe in God, believe that “He” dwells in a place; most refer to as, heaven.  Most of us “believer” believe that God created everything.  There may be some debate as to how “everything” started, but it is commonly accepted that God at least, had a hand in the origins of mankind.
Personally, I want to go on record that I believe that God created everything; that nothing exists that He did not create and that everything was created the way the bible says it was created.  Why is that so important?  Well, if it is not so important, why have so many over the years tried so hard to convince mankind that we exists, not because God created us, but that we had our beginning as the result of some cosmic accident?  They want to take God’s control and our need to submit to God’s control out of the minds of mankind…  and, unfortunately, it has worked.
This last weekend we celebrated this country’s independence.  The 4th of July, Independence Day!  What does independent mean?  Free from authority, control or influence of others, self-governing, self-supporting, not committed…  When the United States became independent of England, we freed ourselves from England’s authority, control and influence.  We became self governing, self- supporting and of course we were no longer committed to England.  From what I have read, it was the right thing to do.  But I think the main concern at the time was that it had become very evident that England want to control and profit from the Americans but did not care about our health and well-being.   So, simply put, it was decided that we were no longer going to submit to the uncaring control of England and our independence was established.
It is a much different situation when one wants to establish their independence of God.  Back then, it became evident that England did not own the Americans and therefore England had no right to dictate how they lived.  One of the primary reasons for declaring our independence of England was to establish to freedom to worship God, based on one’s own personal convictions.  Well, since God created us, God does own us and that is hard for and independent thinking mankind to accept.  So there are those who would attempt to change the story.  Here’s the story…
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  End of story!  Well there is a little more to it, but we must accept the fact that it was God who started this whole thing we call life.  You can read this for yourself in Genesis chapter one, but let’s fast forward to chapter 2 verse 7:  the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.  Here is one thing that evolutionist continue to leave out when they attempt to explain man’s alternative origin; where did life come from?  Ok, accept their explanation that we all start from a rock, there is no explanation as to how man took his first breath.
We were "kicked started" by God.  God formed man into His own design.  He programmed man, if you will; the way He wanted man to be and He breathed life into man.  God created man and He created man to be dependent upon Him, plain and simple.
We have to stop here, but we will continue this thought next week.  But for now, I want to invite you to join us on Sunday evenings at 6:30 as we view a very interesting video series on Creation.  You will be surprised at how much you have been “brain washed” into thinking that God did not create us…
