Lady Pirates split at Deary
In a 3-way match at Deary the Prairie Lady Pirates split their matches, losing to Troy while defeating the host Mustangs.
Prairie lost to Troy in straight sets 12-25, 17-25, 13-25 and then came back to beat Deary 25-15, 12-25, 25-8, 25-23.
In JV action Prairie lost 2 games to 1 to both Troy and Deary.

Lady Pirates win at Nezperce
The Prairie Lady Pirates lost their first game then came back to win 3 straight as they won at Nezperce Thursday, Sept. 9, 24-26, 25-20, 25-15, 25-22.Sarah Forsmann scored a kill on this spike at Nezperce.
The first game was a battle back and forth as neither team could get any kind of a service run going. The majority of the points were scored on sideouts. The biggest lead of the game was 4 points by Nezperce early on. 
Prairie fought back to tie the game for the first time at 12-12 and briefly took the lead at 13-12. The score was tied again at 14, 15, 22, 23 and 24 before Nezperce was able to put 2 points together to end the game.
The second game started out like another close battle until Vanessa Sonnen put together a 4-point serving run with all 4 points coming on aces. That gave prairie a 12-8 lead and they were able to keep at least a 3-point lead the rest of the game.
In the third game Nezperce jumped out to a 0-3 lead but Natalie Arnzen then got hot from the service line, hitting 4 straight aces to give Prairie a lead.
The game kind of stalled out as again sideouts ruled until Arnzen’s turn at the service line came up again.
This time she had 5 aces with Briget Long picking up a kill as Prairie turned a 16-13 lead into a 22-13 edge. Prairie went on to 2in by 10 to tie the match.
In the fourth game Nezperce’s Samantha Anastasi had a 7-point serving run as Nezperce took the early lead at 4-10.
Prairie fought back into the game then Arnzen got another serving run going. This time she had just 2 aces in a 6-point run as Prairie took control at the net. Long added 2 kills while Sonnen and Sarah Forsmann each added a kill as Prairie turned a 13-14 deficit into a 19-14 lead.
Nezperce came back to tie the game at 22 but then came the pivotal point. A great rally saw both teams digging up several  spikes until Arnzen was able to put one away to give Prairie the lead. Long then scored a kill and Lauren Merrill served an ace to give Prairie the game and the match.
Arnzen wound up with 10 service aces and 10 kills in the match while Long had 15 kills. Sonnen added 7 aces and 7 kills while Ashley Schaeffer had 6 kills and Forsmann had 5 kills. Lindsey Crea had 20 assists and 5 aces while Bridget Enneking had 14 assists, 4 aces and a kill.
With the win Prairie improves to 3-2 in league play and 4-5 overall.
The JV team picked up their first win of the year as they defeated Nezperce 25-17, 10-25, 15-4.
Nicole Nida was the serving star of the first game for Prairie as she took over with Prairie trailing 14-16 and served the Pirates to a 22-16 lead. She had 5 aces in the run while Carolyn Sonnen had 2 kills and Tessica Nuxoll had 1 kill. 
Vanessa Sonnen puts some hurt on the ball with this spike.After a sideout, Nuxoll scored consecutive kills then Sonnen served up an ace to end the game.
The second game saw Prairie fall behind early but battle back to take an 8-7 lead. Nezperce then took control as Jessica Winters served up 16 straight points, including 10 aces as Nezperce took an 8-23 lead.
In the deciding game it was Prairie’s Kylie Uhlorn who had the big serving run. Nuxoll scored a kill to put Uhlorn on the service line and Prairie led 11-0 before Nezperce finally sided out for their first point. Uhlorn had 9 aces with a kill by Nuxoll accounting for the other point.
Nezperce added another point before a kill by Charlene Duman put Kimberlee Altman on the service line. Two aces by Altman put Prairie at match point. 
Nezperce staved off two match points before Altman picked up a kill as her dig of a Winters serve found an open spot on the Nezperce side of the court.
