Notes from Pat
A refreshing September morning greets Cottonwood after rain Monday night. Jacob Riener
Also sorrow as the community prepares to bury another young person. Jacob Riener (Jake) 17 died Friday, Sept.10 after a battle with cancer. Friday he was remembered at the football game and a gathering was held after the game in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church parking lot so parents and students could share memories and reaffirm their own life.
The summer of 2004 has been hard on the young people of Cottonwood. May this be the last one lost for a very long time. Sometime bad things happen to nice people.
Fall begins to move into central Idaho as the highs are not so high and the nighttime lows get lower. Harvest winds down and elections get nearer. Thoughts of pumpkin pies and bonfires get closer as the leaves change color and fall.
The column is short, as I would like to wish Gary and Lynn all the help you need at this time and may your memories of Jake be pleasant ones.
Pat

Editor's Note: We don't like to put obituaries on our web page because unfortunately there are people out there who search them out and then prey on the bereaved. If you'd like the full text of Jacob's obituary, email us at the address at the right.
