Lady Pirates to host first round District game
The Prairie Lady Pirates finished the regular season as champions of the South Pod of the White Pine League and will host a first round game of the District Tournament this Friday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. at the PHS gym.
No passes, other than IHSAA passes will be accepted at the gate.
They will play the winner of the play-in game between Nezperce and Lapwai.
Win or lose, Prairie will play Saturday at Booth Hall in Lewiston. They will play at 8 p.m. if they win and at 1:30 p.m. if they lose. They will play either Highland or Genesee in the second round.
The reason the seedings don’t match the standings you may have seen in the Lewiston paper is that they just used the games within the pods for seeding purposes. So Prairie’s 8-0 record against other South Pod teams was used rather than their 10-3 record against all White Pine League teams. This led to Troy, Genesee and Lapwai all tying for second in the North Pod leading to a drawing for positions with Genesee getting 2nd seed, Troy 3rd and Lapwai 4th. Similarly Highland and Culdesac tied for second and split their games leading to a coin flip with Culdesac getting the 2nd seed and Highland 3rd.
The tournament will continue on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11 and 12. On the 11th will be two loser-out games. The winners of those two games will play at 6 p.m. on Saturday for third place with the championship game at 7:30 p.m. All games on the 11th and 12th will be at the new LCSC Activity Center.
