Lady Pirates win 6 events
The Prairie Lady Pirates track team picked up wins in 6 events and finished second overall at the season opening track meet Tuesday, March 22 at Kamiah.Tabitha Sonnen in the 100 hurdles. She placed 3rd in this event and won the 300 hurdles.
Prairie won both the 400 and medley relays while Nicole Nida won the 100 and 200, Tabitha Sonnen won the 200 hurdles and Vanessa Sonnen won the triple jump.
Prairie totaled 100 points at the meet to finish second to Grangeville.
In the 400 relay Nida, Vanessa Sonnen, Casandra Schaeffer and Lauren Merrill had a time of 54.97 to edge out Grangeville by .4 seconds.
In the medley relay the same four girls had a time of 2.:06.06 to beat Grangeville by a little over a tenth of a second.
Nida won the 200 in 28.12 and the 100 in 13.23.
Tabitha Sonnen won the 300 hurdles in 51.11 and finished third in the 100 hurdles in 17.81.
Vanessa Sonnen won the triple jump with a mark of 31’5”.
Also placing among the top 3 was Gina Holthaus in the long jump. She placed third with a mark of 13’6”.
The boys team finished 7th as a team with 18 total points but nobody made the top 3 in any of the events.
The next action for the track teams will be Tuesday, April 5 at Kamiah.
