Prairie girls take second at Kamiah meet
Competitors from Cottonwood schools picked up wins in 6 events in an 8-school track meet at Kamiah Thursday, April 14.
For the Prairie girls team Nicole Nida won the 100, Gina Holthaus the long jump, Vanessa Sonnen the triple jump and the 4x100 relay team won. On the boys side Prairie’s Kelby Wilson won the 800 while Summit Academy’s Dylan Greene won the 400.
The Prairie girls team took second in the team standings with Summit 7th while on the boys side Prairie was third and Summit fourth.
Nida won the 100 in 13.4 and was second in both the 200 at 29.0 and the 400 at 1:05.7.
Holthaus won the long jump at 14’7” with Bridget Enneking taking third at 13’9 ½”.
Vanessa Sonnen won the triple jump at 31’6” with Kayla Uhlenkott taking third at 27’10”.
Holthaus, Nida, Lauren Merrill and Vanessa Sonnen made up the 4x100 team that edged Grangeville at the finish in 54.5.
Tabitha Sonnen took second in both the 100 and 300 hurdles. She ran the 100 hurdles in 17.8 and the 300 hurdles in 52.1.
Merrill took third in the pole vault at 7’6”.
The 4x200 relay team took second in 1:57.4. Uhlenkott, Enneking, Merrill and Vanessa Sonnen made up the team.
The medley team of Holthaus, Cassie Schaeffer, Merrill and Vanessa Sonnen also took second in a time of 2:04.9.
The 4x400 team of Uhlenkott, Randi Schumacher, Enneking and Tabitha Sonnen took third but no time was available.
For the Summit girls Cori Wemhoff was third in the 200 at 29.1 and second in the high jump at 4’6”.
For the Prairie boys Wilson won the 800 in 2:15.7 and was second in the 1600 at 5:20.9.
For Summit Greene won the 400 in 55.9, was second in the long ump at 18’2½”, and was third in the 200 at 25.3 and the high jump at 5’4”. 
Shane Wemhoff took second in the 800 at 2:18.5.
