Coyote Classic scores success
The third annual Coyote Classic sponsored by St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinics attracted close to 50 runners and walkers last Saturday.  The event was coordinated by Dr. Teel Bruner to promote fitness and fun.
Winners for the event were: 5-mile run (male) Chad Hazelbaker, 34:42 (Coyote Classic record); (female) 1st-Michelle Crea, 39:06; 2nd-Michelle Kehler, 42:10. 2.5 mile run (male) 1st-Jack Secrest, 19:14; 2nd-Kenny Kessler, 20:16; (female) 1st-Lisa McEwen, 21:41; 2nd-Kellie Bruner, 22:47.
There were 38 runners in the 2.5 mile run (18 men and 20 women) and 6 in the 5-mile run (1 man and 5 women).
“I was happy with the turnout and the enthusiasm of the runners and walkers.  I am looking forward to the Midsummer Night Relay on August 5 in Cottonwood,” said Dr. Bruner.  “It should be just as much fun and, since it is a relay, it will be a bit different.”
Registration for the relay will begin in the hospital parking lot at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, August 5.  No advance registration is necessary.  The relay will begin at 9:00 p.m.  Participant cost will be $10 which will include a T-shirt or $5 with no shirt.
Participants will form four person relay teams.  They can be formed prior to the event or people can ‘match up’ the evening of the relay.  Each member of the 6 mile relay team will walk or run two miles and each member of the 12 mile relay team will complete three miles on the well let city streets of Cottonwood.
This is the second annual relay sponsored by SMHC.  Plans are underway to sponsor a similar event in Kamiah.
