Lady Pirates lose to Troy
The Prairie Lady Pirates lost a 5-game match to Troy at Cottonwood Tuesday, Sept. 20. 
Scores were 20-25, 25-13, 22-25, 25-18, 13-15.
Ashley Schaeffer had 15 kills in the match for the Pirates and Lindsey Crea had 31 assists. 
Tiffany Schaeffer added 7 kills for the Pirates.
Prairie won the JV match 25-21, 25-14, 12-15.

Lady Pirates lose in 5 games to Nezperce
For the second time in 3 days the Prairie volleyball team lost a tough 5-game home league match. This time to Nezperce by scores of 25-23, 25-27, 19-25, 25-17, 9-15 on Thursday, Sept. 22.
The opening game was a nip-and-tuck affair as neither team could keep any momentum going. 
Prairie had the biggest lead of the game at 20-15 but Nezperce came back to tie the score at 22.
A net foul scored a sideout for Prairie and Ashley Schaeffer scored a kill to put the Pirates at game point. Nezperce blocked a spike to keep the game going but another kill by Ashley Schaeffer ended it for Prairie.Sarah Forsmann digs up a serve as Natalie Arnzen and Ashley Schaeffer watch.
In the second game Bridget Enneking served Prairie to a 3-0 lead as Natalie Arnzen scored a pair of kills but Nezperce came right back to tie the score at 3.
Nezperce took their first lead at 6-7 and after Prairie tied it at 7, took the lead back at 7-8 and held it.
The built the lead to 11-17 at one point.
A kill by Ashley Schaeffer followed by 2 aces from her cut the lead in half but Nezperce was able to push it back to 7 at 16-23.
After a Prairie timeout, Enneking scored a kill and Tiffany Schaeffer went to the service line. After 2 aces, 2 kills by Ashley Schaeffer and a kill by Enneking, Prairie was back in the game at 22-23.
Nezperce scored a kill for game point but a kill by Ashley Schaeffer and a back row kill by Arnzen tied the game at 24. 3 straight missed serves followed leaving Nezperce ahead at 25-26. A missed spike by Prairie then ended the game in Nezperce’s favor.
In the third game Prairie quickly fell behind 1-5 but an ace by Ashley Schaeffer and 3 kills by Tiffany Schaeffer gave Prairie at 6-5 lead.
From there the game went back and forth until the score was 19-19. At that point Nezperce’s Sami Riggers’ serving combined with Prairie’s sudden inability to hit a spike in play led to 6 straight Nezperce points and a 1 game to 2 deficit for the Pirates. Prairie hit 3 spikes into the net, 1 out-of-bounds wide and 1 out long in that 6-point Nezperce run.

Bridget Enneking and Lindsey Crea watch.In the fourth game the score was tied at 3-3 when Arnzen scored a kill to put Sarah Forsmann at the serving line. The “Zoo Crew” in the stands seemed to get Forsmann pumped up as she served up 4 straight aces and Tiffany Schaeffer added a point scoring stuff block to give Prairie a 9-3 lead.
Nezperce fought back though to take a 13-15 lead. They still led 15-16 when Forsmann’s turn to serve came up again.
Forsmann served up 9 straight points this time including 6 aces while Tiffany Schaeffer scored 2 kills and stuffed another spike.
A missed spike ended the run but Forsmann, appropriately scored the game winning kill when her dig of the next Nezperce served found an open spot on Nezperce’s side of the court.
In the deciding game Lindsey Crea served up 2 aces for a quick Prairie lead. The Pirates still held the lead at 5-3 when Nezperce made their rally. They came back to take a 6-8 lead.
A missed serve scored a point for Prairie but Nezperce quickly scored the sideout and pushed their lead to 7-11.
A kill and then an ace by Tiffany Schaeffer cut the lead to 9-11 but a missed spike put Riggers back on the serving line and she served out the match.
Forsmann wound up with 11 aces in the contest along with 4 kills and 3 assists. Arnzen had 21 kills including a stuff while Tiffany Schaeffer had 19 kills including 2 stuffs with 3 aces and Ashley Schaeffer had 17 kills including a stuff along with 4 aces. Lindsey Crea had 48 assists and 3 aces.
With the loss Prairie drops to 3-5 in league play and 5-10 overall.
The JV team meanwhile lost their opening game but came back to win the match 16-25, 25-15, 15-8. Natalie Arnzen power slams the ball against Nezperce as Lindsey Crea watches after making the set.
In the opening game Prairie led 9-7 but Nezperce took control with a 7-point serving run and never trailed again.
In the second game Brooke Holthaus had a 4-point service run and Kim Schaeffer had a 3-point run that helped Prairie break open a close game.
It was 13-11 when Brooke started here run. She had an ace while Schaeffer had 2 kills and Tessica Nuxoll added another kill.
Schaeffer took over the serve at 18-12 and had 2 aces while Nuxoll added another kill to make it 21-12.
Prairie wound up scoring the game winner on a missed Nezperce serve.
In the deciding game Brooke Holthaus served 3 straight aces to give Prairie a 4-1 lead. 
After Nezperce cut the lead to 4-3, Schaeffer took over and served 3 straight aces. After a kill by Sarah Arnzen, Schaeffer served another ace for a 10-3 lead before missing a serve.
Nezperce was able to pull within 12-8 before Chelsea Long scored a kill that put her on the service line. She served an ace and then Arnzen scored the match-winning kill.
