Lady Pirates lose to Deary
The Prairie Lady Pirates had a 2 games to 1 advantage but couldn’t close the deal as Deary eliminated them from the District Tournament 17-25, 25-17, 25-16, 15-25, 9-15 at Lewiston Saturday, Oct. 22.Ashley Schaeffer spikes the ball between the hands of the Deary defender.
The loss ends Prairie’s season with a 14-12 record and leaves them in a fifth place tie at District with Nezperce.
Prairie jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first game as Lindsey Crea served 2 aces and Bridget Enneking added a kill. Deary came right back with 4 straight points though to gain their first lead.
Deary took control of the game with a missed Prairie served and 3 straight aces to make it 8-11 and gradually built on that lead for the final 8-point margin.
In the second game the lead bounced back and forth until a kill by Tiffany Forsmann put Natalie Arnzen at the serving line. A kill by Enneking and 2 aces by Arnzen put Prairie ahead 9-4.
Crea put Prairie firmly in control of the game with an 8-point service run after Ashley Schaeffer scored a kill for the sideout that put her at the line.

Deary cut the lead to 21-15 at one point but a block and then a kill by Tiffany Schaeffer made it 23-15. After 4 straight sideouts, Prairie had a 25-17 win to tie the match at 1 game each.
In the third game Deary held the lead early on with Prairie taking their first lead on a pair of aces by Arnzen that made it 8-6.
Deary came back to tie the game at 8-8 but Tiffany Schaeffer scored a kill for the sideout that put Prairie ahead for good.
Tiffany then served 4 straight points, 2 on aces with Ashley Schaeffer and Enneking adding kills.
A 3-point service run by Enneking gave Prairie a 19-11 lead. She had an ace while Ashley Schaeffer and Arnzen each added a kill.
Deary came back with 3 straight points but a kill by Ashley Schaeffer followed by an ace by Ashley and a block by Tiffany Schaeffer made it 22-14.

Deary scored a kill for the sideout but then missed a serve long to give Prairie a 2 games to 1 edge.
The fourth game was a back and forth battle until Deary took control with 5 straight points that turned a 7-7 tie into a 7-12 Deary lead.
Prairie got no closer than 4 points the rest of the way as Deary tied the match up at 2 games each.
Prairie got to serve to start the 5th game but missed the opening serve. Ashley Schaeffer scored 2 straight kills to make it 2-1 but that was the last time Prairie would lead.
A missed serve tied the game and Deary took the lead with a pair of aces.
After a trade of sideouts, Deary had 3 mores aces to take control at 3-8.
Tiffany Schaeffer stuff a spike to make it 4-8 but that was as close as Prairie would get.
Deary went on to beat Culdesac in the third place match to qualify for state.
For the match Ashley Schaeffer had 23 kills including 4 stuff blocks and 4 aces. Tiffany Schaeffer had 17 kills including 3 blocks and 2 aces. Arnzen had 13 kills and 4 aces. Enneking had 7 kills and 3 aces. Forsmann had 4 kills and 2 aces and Crea had 53 assists and 7 aces.
