Thirty-eight awarded diplomas at PHS
Thirty-eight students received diplomas at the Prairie High School graduation last Friday, May 26.
Exchange student Pero Jolevsky graduated early and then left for his home in Macedonia so he could graduate with his classmates there. Another student listed in last week’s paper came up short on graduation requirements.Grads flip their tassels after all have received their diplomas.
Heather Schumacher gave the opening remarks followed by the Salutatory addresses from Ashley Schaeffer and Dani Terhaar and the Valedictory address from Adeline Lustig.
After a couple of musical selections the Commencement speaker was introduced. Steve Wilson gave a relatively short speech advocating that the graduates love life, take advantage of your support system, give your best effort and don’t be afraid to fail. The world needs dreamers who are also doers.
Medals were given to the top students and several scholarship awards were announced. Following is a list of scholarships received by students that the school is aware of at this time:
