Idaho County Fair is this week
Welcome to the Idaho County Fair Wednesday through Saturday, August 19.  The theme this year is “Fun in the Sun,” and the fair kicks off Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. with a ribbon cutting.
Lenore Hill is Grand Marshal this year.  She lives in Grangeville and has been a member of an extension club for many years.Camille Schumacher modeled for the judges on Monday morning.
Monday and Tuesday this week young people have been busy modeling fashions they have made or outfits they have purchased as part of various 4-H projects.
Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. is the annual pigtail contest with a wide assortment of tails, some long, some short, some colorful, and some very bent.
Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. is the 4-H Fashion Show in the Arena Building.  Thursday sees livestock judging in the Agee Building for most of the day in Fitting and Showing.
Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. is the Idaho Lewis County Cattlemen’s Barbeque held in the City Park.
Later from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. is the annual 4-H Green Swing Dance sponsored by the 4-H Ambassadors in the Agee Building.
Friday is the judging for Quality and the horse fitting and showing.
Friday evening from 4-7 p.m. is the Potato Bar with all the trimmings in City Park sponsored by the Prairie Booster Club.
At 7 p.m. the Royalty Evening begins with the introduction of the 2006 royalty and the presentation of the candidates for the 2007 crown.
Several models await their turn for judging Monday at the Fairgrounds.At 8:30 p.m. the crowning for the new 2007 royalty will be held and the winners will be presented to the crowd.  The evening’s events will be held in the Arena Building.
Saturday begins at 10:30 a.m. with the Kiddies Parade followed at 11 a.m. with the main Idaho County Fair Parade on Main Street in downtown Cottonwood.
At 1 p.m. awards will be presented in the Arena Building and at 2 p.m. the Fat Stock Sale will start in the Agee Building.
The fair winds down as exhibits close at 3:30 p.m. to prepare for check out from 4-6 p.m. exhibits may be checked out.Kristi Poxleitner models for the judges.
There will be live music in the Gazebo during the fair and a Beer Garden will be set up in the park this year.
And so the fair is over for another year.  Some count their ribbons, others cry over the sale of their animals, but count the money collected for the sale, and others start making plans for next year.

Thursday, August 17
8:30 A.M. — LIVESTOCK JUDGING CONTEST, Vernon Agee Livestock Pavilion.
10:30 A.M. TO NOON — 4-H FITTING AND SHOWING LIVESTOCK CONTEST, Vernon Agee Livestock Pavilion.
12 NOON TO 2 P.M. — SLINKY THE CLOWN
1 P.M. — Continue Fitting and Showing Contest.
5 P.M. TO 7 P.M. — IDAHO-LEWIS COUNTY CATTLEMEN’S BEEF BARBECUE, City Park.
7:30 P.M. TO 10:30 P.M. — ANNUAL 4-H GREEN SWING DANCE, sponsored by 4-H AMBASSADORS - Agee Livestock Pavilion, SPECIALTY AWARDS PRESENTATION, Dance area.
7:30 P.M. — “The Singing Mountain Man” Terry Raff on the stage in the John C. Schmidt/Office Building.
Friday, August 18
8:30 A.M. TO NOON — 4-H LIVESTOCK QUALITY JUDGING, Vernon Agee Livestock Pavilion.
1 P.M. — Continue Quality Judging.
2 P.M. — CHAMPIONSHIP 4-H HORSE FITTING AND SHOWING CONTEST, Fair Grounds; CHAMPION 4-H SHOWMANSHIP CONTEST AT CONCLUSION OF ALL LIVESTOCK JUDGING.
4 P.M. TO 7 P.M. — POTATO BAR WITH ALL THE TRIMMINGS, City Park, by Prairie Booster Club.
7 P.M. — ROYALTY EVENING - Introduction of Royalty Candidates.
8:30 P.M. — CROWNING OF 2007 FAIR ROYALTY, Arena Building.
Saturday, August 19
10:30 A.M. — KIDDIES PARADE, Main Street, Gina Lustig, Chairperson.
11 A.M. — IDAHO COUNTY FAIR PARADE, Main Street, Linda Nida, chairperson, 962-7161.
NOON — Visiting ROYALTY LUNCHEON, Middle School, Cafeteria, given by Cottonwood Riding Club.
1 P.M. — 4-H AWARDS AND TROPHY PRESENTATIONS - Arena Building.
2 P.M. — 4-H MARKET LIVESTOCK SALE, Vernon Agee Livestock Pavilion.
3:30 P.M. — EXHIBIT BUILDINGS CLOSED TO PREPARE FOR CHECKOUT.
4 P.M. TO 6 P.M. — ALL EXHIBITS MAY BE CHECKED OUT - Present Claim Check.
