Tri-Parish Youth have a full calendar in September
As the summer days dwindle away and the sound of school bells begin to replace the leisurely days of August, we begin another new season of our journey in life.  The excitement of football games, new school clothes, and a more scheduled life bring with it anticipation of a newness that lies ahead.  Within this newness comes the opportunity to join the Tri-Parish youth group as we grow toward becoming the disciples of Christ through peer ministers, participating in Bible Studies, joining small and large groups led by faith-filled adults, and learning to share our time with each other and those around us to build the Kingdom of God, just as Jesus’ apostles were asked to do so many years ago.
We begin our September journey by joining together on Sept. 1 to socialize and watch a movie at the Junior High Peace Building at 8 p.m.  We will finish our evening with an hour of adoration with the Lord at 10 p.m.  On Sept. 2, the youth will be serving at the Kaschmitter/Holthaus wedding at 3:30 p.m.  On Sept. 6, I will be hosting an information night for all the 7th and 8th grade students who are attending the Junior High Faith Formation Program for 2006/2007.  Parents are asked to attend with their child.
On Sept. 9, we will have our first Youth Mass of the school year at St. Mary’s Church at 7 p.m.  Father Camillus will be doing a Commissioning Ceremony for all those who have been confirmed and are interested in being Eucharistic Ministers or Lectors.  During this Mass, the peer ministers will also be handing out surveys to all the high school youth.  These surveys will give the high school youth an opportunity to get involved in groups with other teens throughout the parishes in areas that interest them.  These groups will be led by faith-filled adults and included a variety of opportunities, which include: scrapbooking, mechanics, musical jam sessions, community service, religious study/apologetics, and more.  Following the Mass the high school youth are invited to a Back-to-School Pizza Bash in the Church parking lot.  Carson Heath and Taylor Rieman will DJ the music.  Come and join your friends as we celebrate the closing of summer in true fashion!
Confirmation sign-up for all sophomores up to the grade of seniors will take place in the back of all the churches during the Sept. 16/17 weekend.  (A sheet of paper will be available for you to put your information on.)  Peer ministry meetings will take place Sept. 11 and Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. at the JHPB.
Sept. 13, the youth going to Africa will be making sauerkraut for an October German dinner that they will be hosting.  More info to follow as to time and place.
Sept. 16 & 17, the youth will be fasting for 30 hours to raise money for World Visine to support African mission needs.  If you are interested in participating or donating to this cause, please contact Debbie.
Sept. 20, early-out, high school social gathering at the Coffee Mill at 3 p.m.  Bring your stories!  Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. Adult Leadership meeting to discuss survey results and set up small and large groups for the school year.
Renew, continued discussion on loneliness will take place on Sept. 27 at the JHPB at 7 p.m.  Sept. 29-Oct. 1, I will be at Boise attending the Diocesan Fall Conference.
Please keep the youth, parents, and teachers in your prayers as the school year begins and life begins to pick up pace.  Please remember that we need to keep a little of the summer spirit in our lives all through the year, especially when things get so busy that we don’t have time to enjoy the special times in life that really are important and that make us a better person for all seasons.
In Christ’s faith and service,
