MAY
Haley Angus was a winner in the grades 4-6 division of the 2006 State-Fish Art Contest, she was the top state winner.
Students of the Month for May were Nicole Lettenmaier and Kimberlee Altman.
Adeline Lustig is valedictorian for the class of 2006 and Ashley Schaeffer and Dani Terhaar are salutatorians for the class.
The boys and girls basketball and softball teams won District Championship trophies.
Forty students took part in graduation ceremonies May 26.
The baseball team won state this year with scores of 10-0 with Rimrock and 3-1 with Genessee in the last two games.
Deaths:
Sarah Elizabeth “Betty” Lange, 84, died May 1 in Newport, Washington.
Mildred E. Wimer, 88, died May 5, she was born in Montana and at the age of 4 her family moved to a farm home near Ferdinand.
William Carroll Cox, 85, died May 17, at Grangeville.  He was a life member of the Elk’s.
Geraldine “Jerri” Keller, 80, died May 19, in Grangeville.

Martha Nagle to celebrate her 100th birthday May 14 in Wilsonville, Oregon.
JUNE
Sali, Schurbon, Adams, McLeod and Heinrich were winners in the primary May 23.
Students of the year at Prairie High School were Adeline Lustig and Bridget Enneking.
Ben Uhlenkott will be ordained a Roman Catholic priest for the Diocese of Boise June 8th at the Cathedral of St. John in Boise.

Jay Hinterlong is appointed to fill the city councilman position of Bill Hill, who resigned.

Deaths:
Elsie A. Kinzer, 94, died June 16 at Lewiston.  Born and raised in Ferdinand she lived on Doumeacq Plains and retired to Craigmont in 1976.  She began bowling in the early 1960’s when the alley was built and continued bowling until 93 years of age.
Wilfred “Willie” Wessels, 79, died June 20 at Dayton, Washington.
