Sonnen, Riener each win 2 events
Tabitha Sonnen and J.D. Riener each won two events at the Lewis & Clark Games at Kamiah Saturday, April 21.
Sonnen won the 100 hurdles in a season best time of 16.09 and the triple jump also in a season best of 31’4”. She also took second in the 300 hurdles in 50.84.
Riener won both the discus and shot put for the boys team, the discus in 149’1½” and the shot put in 49’5” on his last throw of the day.
Nicole Nida picked up a victory as she won the 400 meter dash in 1:02.3. She also placed second in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes in 13.06 and 26.16.
Gina Holthaus also picked up a win in the long jump with a leap of 14’5”.
The girls team wound up finishing second to Grangeville by just 4 points, 143-147. They were tied going into the final event, the 4x400 relay. Grangeville won it and Prairie’s team of Sonnen, Holthaus, NaTosha Schaeffer and  Nida placed third in 4:34.45 accounting for the 4-point difference in the final totals.
Earning a second place finish was Kaylee Uhlenkott in the shot put with a mark of 33’3”. She was 7th in the discus at 94’9½”
Charlene Duman too third in the shot put a 31’5” and was also third in the discus at 103’.
Casey Bruegeman was a surprise third place finished in the 3200 as it was only the second time she had tried the event. She had a strong finishing kick and nearly caught the second place finisher as she had a time of 13:19.4. She also placed 6th in the 1600 run.
Samantha Frei took third in the high jump at 4’6”, tying the winning height but getting dropped to third on more misses. Frei was also 6th in the 800.
Sienna Benton took fourth in the 1600 in 6:05.31. She was also 5th in the 800.
NaTosha Schaeffer took 5th in the 300 hurdles in 52.9.
Nuxoll was 8th in the 200 at 34.1. She was also 5th in the 400.
Amber Holthaus took 8th in the 800 run. She was also 7th in the 400.
Prairie had two 4x200 meter relay teams and they placed 4th and 6th. The team of Randi Schumacher, Bruegeman, Benton and Katie Nuxoll took 4th in 2:01.9.
Prairie also placed 4th in the medley relay as the team of Uhlenkott, Schumacher, Gina Holthaus and Nuxoll had a time of 2:08.8.
For the boys team Vit Spanhel took fourth in the long jump at 18’4½” and Daniel Sigler was fourth in the 400 meter dash in 57.88.
Jake Holthaus took 6th in the triple jump at 35’9¾” and 7th in the 110 hurdles in 20.0.
Tyrell Langston took 7th in the 300 hurdles in 52.9.
