Culdesac ends Prairie's season
The Prairie Lady Pirates quickly bowed out of the District Tournament as Culdesac swept them 10-25, 20-25, 22-25 Saturday, Oct. 14 in a play-in game at the LCSC Activity Center in Lewiston.Chelsea Longs spikes the ball in District Tournament action as Tiffany Schaeffer watches.
The loss ends Prairie’s season at 5-12.
Prairie had to shuffle their lineup as Sam Frei was ineligible for the match. Brooke Holthaus, normally the Libero, moved into Frei’s spot as an outside hitter and Leora Laurino, who played Libero for the JV’s, was moved up to that spot on the varsity.
In the opening game Prairie fell behind 8-14 in part due to a 3-point serving run by Culdesac but what killed them was an 8-point service run that put them down 8-23.
In the second game Prairie was able to take a 5-1 lead as Kaylee Uhlenkott served up 3 aces and Tiffany Schaeffer added a pair of kills. 
Culdesac quickly bounced back to take a 5-6 lead with the lead then changing hands several times as the teams battled back-and-forth. 
Prairie’s final lead was at 19-18 when Uhlenkott scored a kill. 
Culdesac quickly scored the sideout then added 3 straight to take a 19-22 lead.
Brooke Holthaus scored a kill to give Prairie another serving chance but Culdesac blocked a spike for the sideout and then served out the game.
The third game again went back and forth with a pair of aces by Chelsea Long and one each by Alli Holthaus and Uhlenkott helping Prairie take a 13-9 lead. 
Culdesac came back to tie at 14-14  and then took a 16-20 lead.
Tiffany Schaeffer scored a kill to put Alli Holthaus on the service line and 2 aces by Alli tied the score and a kill by Uhlenkott gave them the lead at 22-21.
That was all for the Pirates though as Culdesac scored a kill and an ace to get to match point. 
The final point scored when Tiffany Schaeffer’s block of a spike came down on the wrong side of the net for Prairie.
Tiffany Schaeffer had 10 kills including a pair of stuffs plus 2 aces in the game. Uhlenkott had 6 kills and 4 aces while Long had 3 kills and 5 aces. Brooke Holthaus had 3 kills. Alli Holthaus had 15 assists and 2 aces while Kim Schaeffer had 2 assists and 2 kills. Brianne Stubbers had 3 assists.
