applicator truck arrives
Keuterville Highway District representatives were on hand Thursday November 1 to receive delivery of their new Kenworth T800 dump truck. The truck along with a soon to be arriving Dust abatement sprayer unit will be used by the members of the West Camas Transportation Planning Council. The Council is comprised of the Highway Districts of Keuterville, Cottonwood, Ferdinand, Greencreek, Fenn and the Cities of Cottonwood and Ferdinand.
The truck and applicator along with dust suppressant material have been purchased through a grant from the Idaho Transportation Department under the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality program. The unit will serve a coordinated effort between the entities involved to continue their efforts of dust reduction throughout the local area.
The Transportation council is actively working on further extensions of this program and other programs to address the needs of their combined 300 miles of roadway. The Council has been working together since April 2004 on a transportation master plan and coordinating efforts between the group in order to better serve the transportation needs of the community.
Other programs or grants the group has coordinated in the past is the upgrade of roadway and road name signs, seal coating Graves Creek Road, and the Crushing of 200,000 tons of road gravel.
