Vandals hit Pine Bar area
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person(s) responsible for vandalizing two vault toilets at the Pine Bar Recreation Site on the Salmon River.  The new vault toilets, installed last October, were vandalized in late January or early February at the popular boat launch and campground site located 11 miles south of Cottonwood, Idaho.According to BLM Field Manager Stephanie Connolly, “Our office was excited to provide the public with nice, new facilities.  It is disappointing to see them damaged.  We spent close to $32,000 to replace the old facilities and we can’t imagine why someone would damage a community asset.”Connolly continued, “We are counting on the public to help us find the person(s) responsible for this damage.  We put a lot of faith in the public who enjoy the recreation facilities and want to see us continue to upgrade our recreation sites.  With our budget so tight, we may have to scale back on additional upgrades due to the cost involved in repairing damage to these facilities.”   If you have any information concerning the vandalism of these facilities, please contact BLM Ranger Michael Sabatini at (208) 769-5005.
