Cattle Producer Workshop set for March 25
The University of Idaho, Idaho County Extension Office is sponsoring a Cattle Producer Workshop on Tuesday, March 25th at the Grangeville Senior Citizens Center starting at 9:00 a.m.  The workshop will feature a presentation on reducing winter feeding costs by Dr. Jason Ahola, University of Idaho Extension Beef Specialist.  Dr. Ahola is stationed at the Research the Extension Center in Caldwell.  He will talk about cattle nutritional requirements, alternative feedstuffs and supplementation programs that can be used when lower quality forages are fed.  He will also talk on least cost rations and provide ideas on how to stay competitive in the current climate of high feed costs. 
Jim Church, University of Idaho Extension Educator will also speak on using Dollar Values and Economic Indexes to select bulls.  Jim will describe the new indexes that breed associations are using and show producers how these indexes can be used when analyzing a group of bulls.
