Sports Physicals set for June
St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinics will once again be offering the sports physicals for area students.  The cost for the physical is $25.00 and SMH will donate $15 back to the athletic department of the students’ school.
Students from any of the area schools are welcome to receive their physical at any one of the three clinics.  The physicals will be offered at the Nezperce Clinic on June 2, the Cottonwood Clinic on June 4 and the Kamiah Clinic on June 10.  Check in time at all three clinics is from 5:00 to 6:00 PM.

Reminder for Diabetes Workshop
Becky Ewing, RN, Certified Diabetes Educator, is offering a two hour workshop for people with diabetes this Thursday, May 15 from 9:00-11:00 a.m.  The workshop will feature the use of a new Healthyi interactive educational tool.  The 3’ x 5’ table top conversation map and cards simulate a large board game.
“I act as a facilitator as the 6-7 participants navigate their way around the conversation map,” said Ewing.  “The concept was originally developed in Canada.  I first learned about it earlier and took a training session for facilitators.  It’s a new concept and an exciting way to learn more about diabetes.”
The workshop is designed for both newly diagnosed patients and those who’ve already begun managing their condition. The workshop is limited to 6-7 participants who will identify facts and myths around diabetes.  The Healthyi educational model received an endorsement from the American Diabetes Association.  For additional information visit www.healthyi.com .
Interested attendees must pre register by calling the hospital, 962-3251.  Subsequent sessions will be offered as people enroll.
