Reminder for Diabetes Workshop
Becky Ewing, RN, Certified Diabetes Educator, is offering a two hour workshop for people with diabetes this Thursday, May 15 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. The workshop will feature the use of a new Healthyi interactive educational tool. The 3’ x 5’ table top conversation map and cards simulate a large board game.
“I act as a facilitator as the 6-7 participants navigate their way around the conversation map,” said Ewing. “The concept was originally developed in Canada. I first learned about it earlier and took a training session for facilitators. It’s a new concept and an exciting way to learn more about diabetes.”
The workshop is designed for both newly diagnosed patients and those who’ve already begun managing their condition. The workshop is limited to 6-7 participants who will identify facts and myths around diabetes. The Healthyi educational model received an endorsement from the American Diabetes Association. Interested attendees must pre register by calling the hospital, 962-3251. Subsequent sessions will be offered as people enroll.
