Band to perform at Royale Room Saturday
The band Scotland Barr & the Slow Drags, which includes Greencreek native Zach Hinkelman, will be performing this Saturday at the Royale Room in Cottonwood.
The 6-man band plays roots rock and old country. The band, with Zach Hinkelman upper left.
Hinkelman says their sound is something like the 70’s group “The Band” or Neil Young or as Hinkelman put it, “Bruce Springsteen with a steel guitar overlay.”
Their performance Saturday is part of “Pigstock” where they will be roasting a pig (supplied no doubt by Zach’s father Lindy). There will be a $2 cover charge which includes the food.
The band members are Scotland Barr on vocals and acoustic guitar, Chris Hubbard on keyboards and backup vocals, Bryan Daste on pedal steel, backup vocals, saxophone and theremin, Nick Kostenborder on drums and Hinkelman, aka Dr. Finkelstein, on lead guitar and backup vocals.
Information on the group can be found on the web at www.scotlandbarr.com and www.myspace.com/scotlandbarrandtheslowdrags.
They have a CD out called All the Great Aviators Agree which can be found on iTunes or at CDBaby.com.
At the Myspace site you can listen to some of the songs from their album.
