Letters to the editor from this week's Chronicle:

A Tribute to Freda Terhaar
I was deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of my dear friend, Freda Terhaar.  We grew up together and went to Greencreek school together when there were no busses or cars to take us there.  Everyone went in a buggy, rode a horse or walked to school.  Public school #39 was taught by the Benedictine Sisters through the 8th grade.  Freda was a grade ahead of me.  She always had a smile and was cheerful, very bright, and was loved by all the students.  (A note of interest is that Elta Arnold at the time, was superintendent of the schools and came to visit on a black horse.)
Freda and I went to parties together and went ice skating together.  After her marriage to Ray and mine to Mary, we all still went to parties together, especially birthday and anniversary parties.  She really enjoyed our youth.  She was 92 years old, and I will be 92 this fall.  We were the last people remaining of our class.
She retained her smile and good looks.  She was a very special person.  We will miss you Freda.
