Summit Jr. High girls finish at 18-6
Summit girls finished their current season on a high note last week, splitting a double-header with Asotin last week, downing Culdesac, then taking three of four games at the season ending tourney hosted by Asotin.
Finishing the regular season at Asotin, the Patriot “7th” polished off the Washington girls 21 to 7, then endured a close 25-27 loss to Asotin’s 8th, as Summit shots failed again and again to split the net.  The 12 for 47 shooting, plus a couple of defensive lapses in the last minute contributed to the Patriot’s third loss of the season, ending their season league record at 6-3.
With only one game scheduled, the Patriots traveled to Culdesac last Thursday, and there the Summit “7th” downed the Wolves 30-19.
Saturday was a busy day at Asotin, as Summit’s younger girls lost a hard fought opener to Kamiah 27 to 18, falling behind 19 to 5 at the half, but rallying to outscore their opponents 13 to 8 in the second half.  Then the girls offense heated up as they ran up a 42-20 victory over Timberline.
The Patriot older team won both of their Asotin games, edging Prairie 23 to 18 in the first matchup, then reversing their earlier loss to Asotin with a 30 to 15 win over the host ladies.
The week’s activity ended the regular season for the lady Patriots, though a couple of tourney’s including the Hallissey at Boise, loom in the future.
Team members this year for Summit: 8th graders Julia Osborne, Tanna Schlader, Brooke Schumacher and Cassidy Stubbers; 7th graders Abby Chmelik, Sarah Chmelik, Kayla Duclos, Rachael Frei, Sarah Kuther, Meagan Rehder and Nicole Wemhoff; and sixth graders Kayla Schumacher and Meagan Seubert.  Coaching both teams was Julie Schumacher.
