St. Gertrude's novice to become a Sister
The public is invited to attend the First Monastic Profession of Novice Katie Cooper on November 15, 2008 at the Monastery of St. Gertrude Chapel in Cottonwood, Idaho, at 1:30 p.m. Katie Cooper
In reflecting back on the path that led her to St. Gertrude’s, Novice Katie shared a few thoughts about her journey. (For photos and her complete Profession story, please visit www.StGertrudes.org/jubilees.htm)
“How does one explain the mysteries of God? From the first day I visited the monastery, I felt like I was home. Each time I returned, the Divine Office and Eucharist would have phrases or words saying “Come follow me.” I kept saying, “You don’t mean me, do you Lord?” I became an oblate in 2004, was accepted as a postulant in 2005 and have been on the way to becoming a sister ever since then. I am grateful to my family for their unwavering support and I thank God for the wonderful women here at the monastery who have dedicated their lives to seeking God and serving others. My prayer is that I will be able to do the will of God by helping others through our core values of healing hospitality, grateful simplicity and creative peacemaking.”
