Spencers receive Distinguished Service Award
In addition to the yearly 4-H member achievement awards, a distinguished service award for 4-H leaders is also given.
The 4-H Distinguished Service award for 2008 goes to Butch and Jean Spencer of Cottonwood.
The husband-wife team are the leaders of the Keuterville Livestock 4-H Club where they have been involved for five years as adult volunteer leaders.  Both are 4-H alumni.
“We enjoy teaching kids about their projects and seeing it help them in the show ring,” the Spencers said.  “Also, we enjoy seeing the kids happy with how they did, and that all of the long hours of work paid off.”
The Spencers said they believe the 4-H Program is “a great way for kids to learn responsibility and to do the best job they can.  We really enjoy being a part of forming the future adults in our community,” they agreed.
“We are honored to receive this award and we would like to thank the Keuterville Livestock 4-H Club for letting us be their leaders,” the Spencers added.
