Cottonwood City Council meets
Several alcohol beverage licenses were approved at the January meeting of the Cottonwood City Council Monday, January 12.
Licenses were approved for Cottonwood Foods, Inc., Country Haus Restaurant and Village Motel, Inc., Tim Campbell dba Mini-Village and Gary Riener dba Riener’s Grocery.
A resolution was read and passed that is part of the application process for a street grant.
The temporary snow load variance request brought up at the December meeting was approved through August 2009. 
The sanitation contract was discussed but no action was taken as it is not finalized yet.
Meeting dates were approved for 2009. All meetings will be at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of the month except for October, which will be moved to Tuesday that week due to the Columbus Day holiday.
In reports Jay Hinterlong reported there was a large water leak on Madison Street that was fixed. Water leakage rate for 2008 was 13.9%. Anything under 15% is considered very good. It would likely have been somewhat lower without the recent Madison St. leak.
Ron Grant reported they are now discharging into the creek with all the current snow melt runoff.
Grant also reported that there were no fires in town in the past month. The fire department was able to purchase their lights with the Department of Transportation grant.
Amy Uptmor of JUB Engineering was present to update council members on the engineering work done for the agriforest and sewer system. The newer council members had several questions on the systems.
In other business, city attorney Joe Wright checked into having the city code being put online.
Wayne Forsmann was also present to discuss the drainage and snow removal on Smith St. Basically it was many of the same issues discussed at a public meeting several months ago.
The council adjourned at 8:30 p.m. The next regular meeting will be Monday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m.
