Summit girls win twice
Summit girls added two more victories to their record last week, raising their season win/loss stats to 12 and 2 with easy wins over Pullman Christian last Thursday, and a jayvee/varsity combo win over Deary on Saturday, both games away.
The Pullman game ended 54-24 Summit, as the Patriots reversed their double losses in Volleyball to the same team last fall, with quarter scores of 14-6, 18-10, 42-14, and the final 54-24, with all ten Patriots seeing significant action. Scoring and rebounding stats for the Patriots: Jamie Chmelik 8/3, Savannah Kuther 12/2, Rachel Wemhoff 20/3, Kim Frei 2/1, Nicole Frei 0/0, Courtney Schwartz 2/0, Rachel Uhlenkott 0/2, Savannah Prigge 8/7, Tara Stubbers 2/5, and Jenn Wemhoff 0/0.
At Deary Saturday, in a game designated jayvee, Summit jayvees played most of the game, but scoring for the Patriots was provided chiefly by varsity players in and out of the game during the day.  With Vicki Schlader out with an injury, only three jayvee Patriots were available for the game, with Courtney Schwartz, Rachel Uhlenkott, and Jenn Wemhoff playing significant amounts of time, but scoring provided mainly by Wemhoff with 16 and Prigge with 11.
Summit girls have two games on tap this week, hosting Culdesac here with the Culdesac boys on Thursday at Prairie Elementary, while a return game, considered jayvee with Deary girls will be held at Prairie High on Saturday, game time 6:00 P.M.  Plans are being made for Summit jayvee boys to play a Deary jayvee and “C” squad preliminary, tentatively set at 4:30.

Summit boys split games
Summit boys picked up their first Division II league game ever last week with a relatively easy 66 to 39 over the Huskies from Highland, but dropped a hard fought 54-42 decision to the Pullman Christian Eagles, leaving them with an 8-7 record for the current year.
Playing at Highland, Summit took leads of 15-9, 33-19, 55-29, during the quarter breaks on their way to the 66-39 final.  Dylan Prigge had his best offensive game of the year with 34 points, and was helped on the scoring side by Josh Frei’s 15, Dustin Lustig’s 9, and Joseph Lustig’s 5.  Chase Nuxoll, Derek Nuxoll, and Austin Chmelik added a point each, while Chase dominated the boards with 16, helped also by seven each from Dustin Lustig and Prigge.  Dustin also contributed six steals and seven assists to lead in those departments.
In the preliminary, the Patriot jayvees also picked up a win, with a convincing 60-28 victory over the Huskies.
The win was the first of three league games which will determine seeding in the upcoming Division II district, scheduled to be held at Highland in February.  League games with Nezperce away on Friday, Both Summit girls and boys will host Culdesac here Thursday, games at Prairie Elementary, and Culdesac away next Tuesday will decide those rankings.
The trip to Pullman Thursday proved to be a different matter however, as a hot Eagle jayvee canned five trays to pound out a 54 to 42 win over the Patriots, with the second game not much better, Pullman prevailing 53 to 48 in a close rough and tumble match that saw starting point guard Dustin Lustig saddled with fouls immediately, keeping him on the bench about half the game.  Edging their younger teammates, the senior Eagles netted six threes, each dropping in as Summit would take a monetary lead, with scores at the quarter breaks, Summit first: 11-17, 29-26, 40-43 ending with the 48-53 final.  Scoring and rebounding for the Patriots: Joseph Lustig 2/6, Dustin Lustig 6/0, David Johnson 18/8, Dylan Prigge 14/3, Chase Nuxoll 0/8, and Josh Frei 8/1.
The five point loss was the fifth in Summit’s seven losses that ended with five or less with only Wilder and Clearwater Valley defeating the Patriots by more than those five points.
