Pirates host match
Tyrell Langston and Chance Ratcliff each won a pair of matches as Prairie hosted a wrestling meet Tuesday, Jan. 6.James Jackson is about to pin his opponent in Prairie's home match.
Langston wrestled twice against C.V. wrestlers winning by pin in the 2nd period in the first match and by pin in the first period in the second match.
Ratcliff scored 15-0 technical fall over a Grangeville wrestler in his first match and won by pin over a C.V. wrestler in his second match.
James Jackson split his two matches. Both were against Kamiah wrestlers. In his first match he won 7-0 and in the second match, against Kamiah’s Slade Jacobs, he lost 3-13.
Philip Smakman also split his matches. In his first match he lost by pin in the 1st period to a C.V. wrestler. In his second match he won by pin in the first period over a Kamiah wrestler.
Mitchell Jungert lost his only match, an 8-9 decision to a Grangeville wrestler.
Brandon Poxleitner lost twice. He was beaten 2-17 by Jacobs and lost 8-12 to another Kamiah wrestler.
Prairie added another home match to their schedule as they will host a meet at the Middle School gym on Tuesday, January 27. It will be at the Middle School gym as the boys basketball team will be playing Highland at the high school gym that evening.

3 earn medals at Kamiah
James Jackson, Brandon Poxleitner and Chance Ratcliff each earned a medal at the Kamiah Invitational Wrestling tournament held Friday and Saturday, Jan. 9-10.
James Jackson works to score points against a Moscow wrestler on his way to a second place medal.Jackson took 2nd place at 145 lbs. while Poxleitner was third in the same weight class. The only loss for each of them was to the champion, Kamiah’s Slade Jacobs.
Ratcliff meanwhile took third at 215 lbs.
As a team Prairie took 11th out of 14 teams with 60.5 points.
Following are match-by-match results:
130 lbs.-Philip Smakman lost to John Priner of St. Maries by pin in 0:48 and to Bryan Hughes of Kamiah in 3:43.
145 lbs.-Jackson won by pin in 0:48 over Hunter Roberts of McCall-Donnelly. Won in semifinals over Eric McCall of Moscow 14-6. Lost in championship match to Jacobs of Kamiah. Poxleitner defeated Casey Yates of Lewiston 7-0; lost to Jacobs 1-16, defeated Roberts of McCall by pin in 1:54, defeated McCall in 3rd place match.
160 lbs.-Tyrell Langston lost 6-8 to Troy Sines of St. Maries, won 16-1 over Friend Bechtel of Moscow, defeated Hughes of Orofino 16-7, lost to Sines of St. Maries 5-8 in consolation semifinals.
215 lbs.-Ratcliff won by pin in 0:40 over John Williams of Moscow, lost by pin in 4:36 to Greg Holcomb of Grangeville; won 9-3 over Derek Eldridge of Grangeville. Defeated Tyler Crawford of Orofino in third place match.
285 lbs.-Mitchell Jungert won by pin in 3:00 over Skyler Graham of McCall-Donnelly, lost by pin in 4:52 to Bryan Cummins of Potlatch, won by pin in 4:12 over Brandon Wilburn of Wallace, lost third place match to Ty Beare of St. Maries.
Brandon Poxleitner has his opponent in trouble at the Kamiah Tournament. He went on to earn a third place medal.
