Cottonwood S.D. 242 Music Department invites the community to join in on an evening of Jazz Music, and a benefit Spaghetti Dinner. Dinner will be held at the Prairie H.S. cafeteria at 6:00 p.m., Monday, February 23rd with a concert following dinner. A fancy dessert auction will also be held during the concert. Proceeds will go towards band and choir travel activities during the spring semester. Anyone wishing to donate a “fancy dessert” for the auction, please contact the P.H.S. office no later than Friday, Feb. 20th. The Cottonwood S.D. Music Department has held a long tradition of participation in the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival each year at the University of Idaho. Director of Music, Mr. John Eynon is particularly pleased with the effort the PHS Band and Choir students have demonstrated in preparation for this event. We have a very balanced group of instruments and vocalists in both groups, which allows for a solid performance of jazz music. This years’ dinner will also feature the Prairie Elementary Jazz Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Lori Karel, and for the first time we will also have a Prairie Middle School Jazz Band performing. Mr. Eynon expresses his appreciation towards those students in the Prairie Middle School Band who have taken their instrumental performance seriously this year, which in turn makes it possible for the middle school students to experience jazz music within the concert band program. Tickets for the dinner and concert will be sold in advance at the PHS office, also directly by PHS Band and Choir Students, and during the remaining Prairie Highs School home basketball games. A family ticket is available for $20.00 for a family of four or more individuals. Tickets per adult will be $5.00 and under 12 will be $3.00. Tickets will also be sold at the door. |
