Summit wins 3 of 4
For the second week in a row Summit's Patriots took three of their four basketball contests last week, the boys winning both, the first a 77 - 57 league match over Culdesac and a 44 - 19 defensive trouncing of Meadows Valley.
The girls also took down Culdesac 65 to 39 in a league match which placed them first in Division II play going into next month's regionals, but dropped a game to Meadows Valley 51 to 33 leaving them with a 15 - 3 record for the season. Semester test fatigue and woeful shooting from both the field and the line doomed the Summit girls to their first loss of three games with Valley this season. From the field the Patriots shot 13 of 61 and from the charity stripe 7 of 26, both in the vicinity of 26%.
Total scoring and rebounding for the two boys games: Joseph Lustig 2/6, Austin Chmelik 111, Michael Rehder 2/1, Dustin Lustig 27/19, David Johnson 25/19, Dylan Prigge 42/9, Chase Nuxoll 8/9, Josh Frei 14,8.
The double win week left the boys with a 11 and 8 record for the season, with one game remaining on the schedule, Salmon River at home this week.
Summit boys also won their jayvee game with Meadows 53 -33
Scoring and rebounding stats for the two girls games: Jaime Chmelik 11/8,
Savannah Kuther 2/6, Rachel Wemhoff 27,16, Kim Frei 9/1 0, Nicole Frei 5/6, Courtney Schwartz 2/2, Savanah Prigge 40/26, and Tara Stubbers 2/4.
The girls have two games remaining on their schedule this week, Salmon River here Tuesday, and Lewis County at Highland on Friday.
They will then travel north to Lakeland High School in Rathdrum, where they will be seeded number one in the north regional, playing Mullan, the number two seed from District 1. Game one date is Friday February 6, with winners and losers pairing off the next day for a 1 and 1/2 spot in the state tourney. The north regional runnerup will be traveling to Grangeville Feb. 14, for a play in game with a team from the south.
