for Life event is July 17
The countdown is on for the 5th annual ACS Clearwater To Salmon Rivers Relay For Life event on Friday July 17 at the Grangeville High School track. There are 21 teams signed up so far and more teams are welcome! All cancer survivors are invited to a wonderful reception at 5:00 pm and encouraged to walk the first lap of the Relay. Wonderful entertainment, speakers, and all kinds of games and activities will make for a fun 16 hours of celebrating life! This year has been dedicated to our friend and co-founder of the Grangeville fundraiser, Mr. Jim Wagner, who was a vital committee member for the past 5 years. Jim always made sure that the necessities for a successful event were taken care of and always, no matter how tired or ill he felt, had a smile on his face. Jim fought hard but his cancer overtook and on May 2nd he lost his fight. We will take the time to remember Jim and all of our lost family members and friends during the Luminaria ceremony at 10:00 pm. Watch for the insert in the Free Press for more information on this year’s event. There are many fundraisers planned between now and July 17 for you to be able to donate for a luminaria bag to be lit for your loved one. The NICI Friends & Family team will be hosting “Jack’s Bar-B-Q Ribs at the Cottonwood City Park on July 11th at 11:00 am for their team fundraiser. The Early Bird team will be hosting a Schwan’s sale in the parking lot of Camas Professional Counseling on Friday, July 3rd so by some ice cream and help contribute to the American Cancer Society. Many activities are scheduled this year, among them are the jumping castle with a climbing wall, scavenger hunt, sumo wrestling, and an 80’s Trivia contest in which teams can challenger each other for points towards a wonderful prize.
