Bittermelon experience
Two years ago the Camas Prairie went on a gourmet experience to the China Inn in Lewiston and tried their very first Bittermelon with Pork dish.  What is bittermelon?  It is a very popular southeast asian vegetable.  Looks like a variegated cucumber.  It has wonderful medicinal properties along with being very delicious.  It is bitter because the longer you cook it the more bitter it gets.  One has to really watch it when cooking bittermelon.  The reason for this gourmet trip is because I have eaten bittermelon in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York and the best bittermelon is found right here in our own LC valley when in season.
The event is schedule for MONDAY, AUGUST 17, 2M at the China Inn, 2007 16th Ave., Lewiston
Contact Yasmin at (208) 924-6634 or skeeter12@juno.com for reservations and more info.
