Prairie to go 'Bratzy'
November 14 is the date for the first Bräts and Brew Tasting Extravaganza
This exciting event will be held in the Cottonwood Community Hall and is sponsored by the Prairie Community Library Board.  Proceeds will be used in conjunction with the renovation of the building to provide better access and availability to the Library.
It is a well known fact that this community is famous for their sausage made from recipes handed down throughout the generations and enjoyed by family and friends.  It is time for you to dig into those recipe files and find those and other favorite foods that have been enjoyed for generations.  It is also a fact that many from this community are from Pioneer German families and harbor specialty items that need to be shared with friends.
Rumor has it that there are certain people who specialize in their own home brewed beer.
This, too, will be an added attraction to the event.
Everyone will vote for the item of their choice and the winner will be determined by “Peoples Choice”.
The categories are:
Best Sausage (Bräts)
Best Salad / Side Dish
Best Dessert
Best Brew (Beer)
A special category for commercially produced sausage will be available if entries are received.
Cabbage donated by Vic and Shirley Gehring, owners of Archie’s Cleaners, will be made into sauerkraut, and served along with German Bread provided by the Library Board to complete your evening’s entrees.  A no host bar will be available.
Remember this is a tasting event and your vote will determine the winners of each category.  Entry forms and tickets will be available in the near future.
For more information, stop by the library Tuesday or Thursday afternoons or contact any board member.
