Uptmor receives statewide award
Theresa Uptmor received a Lifetime Achievement Award recently at the annual meeting of the Idaho Medical Group Management Association based in Boise.  She was the Business Services Manager at St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinics and a member of IMGMA for the past 15 years.  The award was presented by Larry Barker, COO, Clearwater Valley Hospital and Clinics, Orofino.Larry Barker and Theresa Uptmor are pictured with the award Uptmor recently received from the Idaho Medical Group Management Association.
“Theresa certainly deserved the award with her dedication to SMHC over the past 25 years,” said Barker.  “The other members of the association recognizes the type of expertise it takes to expand a clinic system from one to four locations and keep them running so that the patients and staff are satisfied with the service and things are functioning smoothly every day.”
IMGMA is a professional association of administrators and managers from a variety of medical practices and facilities throughout Idaho.  It was formed in the late 1970s and formally unified in 1983 when it sponsored the MGMA’s Western Section meeting.  They are affiliated with the national Medical Group Management Association.
Their goal is to provide education, communication and advocacy to benefit Idaho medical practices, physicians and their managers by providing educational seminars, newsletters and publications of interest to medical practice managers.  They monitor changes in government regulations, private insurance, business practices and human resource issues.
“Receiving the award was an awesome experience.  Larry’s award speech was truly moving and the sentiments of the association members from across the state was a humbling experience, especially because they understand all the details and organization it takes to make a medical clinic function successfully in today’s health care climate,” said Uptmor.  “I have been very honored during my job transition by my co-workers, patients, family and community members.  It is really appreciated.”
Uptmor will continue with SMHC and CVHC working ten hours per week at each facility as a coding auditor ensuring that diagnoses, procedures and treatments are correctly coded for billing purposes.  She is a Certified Professional Coder.
