Blood drive is successful
“We would once again like to thank the community for all their efforts in making our October Blood Drive successful”, said co-chair Cheri Holthaus.  “Even though we had a few glitches in the system; too many donors at one time and long wait times, all in all the drive went very well.  We would like to apologize to those who were turned away due to no available openings and hope that you will be willing to come back on February 2nd for our next drive; if possible please call either myself or Brenda Kaschmitter at 962-3251 to schedule an appointment.  We would also like to apologize to those who had to wait so long in order to donate; we truly appreciate your patience.”
There were a few first time donors: Toni Sickels, Joan Rae Renshaw, Ashle Long and Paul Enriquez.  Along with the first time donors there were several who received milestone pins; Lenore Forsman, Wendy Olin, Denise Poxleitner and John Schmidt all donated 1 gallon, Fern Braseth 2 gallons, Sandy Enneking and Jim Gehring received their 4 gallon pins, Barb Michels donated 3 gallons and Jean Poxleitner received her 5 gallon pin.  A very special thanks to these folks for their dedication to the blood drives.
“The success of our blood drives depend largely upon our volunteers,” said co-chair Brenda Kaschmitter.  “Without them the blood drives would not be able to take place.  We would like to thank Misty Johnson, Marlene Jungert, Eleanor Hinkelman, Anna Gerhing, Delores VonBargen, Irma Tacke, Sally Terhaar, Audrey Uhlenkott and Bobbie Schmidt for making phone calls, checking in donors, keeping donors organized and preparing and serving the famous maple bars and juice.  We would also like to give a special thanks to the HOSA students who helped by either setting up, tearing down or escorting the donors; Conner Reiman, Seth Guyer, Haleigh Schmidt, Ashley Shumway, Josh Roeper, Sheri Schumacher, Kayla Johnson, Dani Cochran, Demetria Riener, Chelsea Geis, Brock Heath, Josh Zigler and Devin Schmidt.  We would also like to thank their advisor, Sheri Daly for organizing the students.
“We hope to see all our past donors as well as some new donors at our next blood drive which will be on February 2nd,” said Holthaus.  “If you would like to make an appointment please feel free to contact either myself or Brenda Kaschmitter at 962-3251.
