Lady Pirates win at Kendrick
The Prairie Lady Pirates could get no offense going at all in their game at Genesee as they dropped their non-league season finale 18-43 Thursday, Jan. 28.
It was a defensive battle both ways early on as Prairie trailed 10-4 after the first quarter and then scored first in the second quarter to close the gap to 10-6.
Genesee then scored the next 23 straight points as Prairie went scoreless until notching a free throw late in the third quarter.
Prairie did finally get some offense going in the fourth quarter as they put up 11 points to Genesee’s 10.
Kayla Johnson was Prairie’s top scorer with 6 points while Haleigh Schmidt and Shelby VonBargen scored 5 points each and Fran Johnson added 2 points.
Prairie ends the regular season with a 6-14 record and will be the #6 seed at District. They open tournament play Wednesday, Feb. 3 at approximately 7:45 p.m. against Troy at the LCSC Activity Center.
There was no JV game as Genesee doesn’t have a JV squad.
