Forum location changes
This Thursday’s, April 22 Our Health Our Community public forum will be held in the Conference Room at the Super 8 Motel on Highway 95 in Grangeville.  “We regret any confusion this may cause.  We’ll leave a sign on the Soltman Center notifying attendees of the location change,” said Julie Hauger, Groaner’s Fitness Center.
Dr. Alan Muench will be the featured speaker at the 7:00 p.m. forum.  His presentation, Varicose Veins and Venous Insufficiency, will include information on the VNUS Closure® procedure, a minimally invasive method of treating venous reflux, the underlying cause of varicose veins.  He also presented at an OHOC forum in 2007.
According to Dr. Muench, varicose veins are known for their distinctive blue color and bulging appearance on the skin. An estimated 10-20% of the adult population or 20-25 million people in the United States have this condition and more women than men are affected
“Thanks to recent technology and new methods we now have alternatives to traditional vein stripping surgery,” said Dr. Muench who was certified in 2008 by the American Board of Phlebology.  His practice is based in Lewiston at the Clearwater Vein Care Center.
The ‘Our Health Our Community’ series of public health related lectures are sponsored by Grangeville Physical Therapy, Groaners Fitness, the University of Idaho Extension Service and St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinics.  They are free and open to the public. For additional information call GPT, 938-2241 or Groaners, 983-7070.
