6 individuals, 3 relays qualify for State
Kyler Shumway again broke the school and regional record in the shot put as Prairie qualified 6 individuals in 12 events plus 3 relays for this weekend’s State Track meet at the Regional Track Meet at Kamiah last Friday and Saturday, May 14-15.Kyler Shumway broke the school and regional meet shot put records with a 61’3” mark Friday at Kamiah. He also qualified for state in the discus and 100 meter dash.
The State Track Meet will be at Boise State University Friday and Saturday, May 21-22.
Shumway had a mark of 61’3” to break his previous record by 6 inches in the shot put. He also took first in the discus at 143’5” and 4th in the 100 meters in 11.84 to qualify for state in those events as well.
Brock Heath also qualified in 3 events as he was 2nd in the 3200 in 10:21.24, third in the 1600 in 4:49.14 and 4th in the 800 in 2:03.24.
Qualifying in 2 events was Ryan Dalgliesh who was third in the 400 meter dash in 55.14 and fifth in the high jump at 5’8”. He qualified for state in the high jump as an alternate.
For the girls team NaTosha Schaeffer was district champion in the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.94.
MaKayla Schaeffer was third in the long jump at 15’4”.
Mary Shears took third in the discus at 106’3” and even though she was 6th in the shot put, she made it in as an alternate with a mark of 31’8”.
The girls team also qualified 3 relays, the 4x200 took first with a time of 1:50.34 while the 4x100 was second in 52.94 and the 4x400 was also second in 4:19.04. Kristin Hill, Shelby VonBargen, NaTosha Schaeffer and MaKayla Schaeffer made up the lineup in all three relays.
Dalgliesh had a shot at a third event in the 200 as he had the third fastest preliminary time but finished 8th in the finals at 25.44.
Robin Krol was 18th in the 100 at 12.5 and 11th in the 400 in 58.5. He also ran the 800 but no time was available.
Torin Dalgliesh was 34th in the 100 at 13.6 and 27th in the 200 at 28.8. He also ran in the 400 but no time was available.
Kaden Perrin was 7th in both the 1600 and 3200 in 5:05.74 and 11:07.14 respectively and also ran the 800 but no time was available.
Josh Zigler was 11th in the shot put at 32’3” and didn’t place in the discus.
Kyle Uhlenkott was 21st in the discus at 78’2” and didn’t place in the shot put.
The boys also ran in the 4x100 relay as Krol, Zigler, Torin Dalgliesh and Ryan Dalgliesh placed 8th in 1:03.14.
For the girls Justina Zigler was 12th in the 100 in 14.6 and 6th in the 1600 in 6:29.64. She also competed in the long jump.
Rachel Falzon was 16th in the 200 in 31.4 and also competed in the 100 and long jump.
Tyler Workman was 9t in the 200 in 30.14 and 10th in the 400 in 1:09.9. She also competed in the long jump.
Betty Clark was 6th in the 3200 in 14:42.24 and 7th in the 1600 in 6:32.04.
The girls medley team of Shears, Zigler, Hill and VonBargen took 5th in 2:02.9.
Stephanie Gimmeson, Ashley Shumway, Gina Seubert, Demetria Riener and Amanda Stinson competed in both the shot put discus but didn’t make finals so no marks were available.
Shumway also competed in the long jump and triple jump. 
In the team standings the boys placed 5th out of 14 teams with 60 points while the girls placed 4th out of 16 teams with 63 points.

State Track Schedule
This year there are no 1-A events on Thursday with Ryan Dalgliesh the first Prairie athlete to see action as the boys high jump starts at 9 a.m. Friday, May 21. 
Kyler Shumway in the discus and Mary Shears in the girls shot put see their events start at 10:30 a.m. Shumway is in the second flight while Shears is in the first flight.
The girls discus and boys shot put get underway at 1 p.m. Shears and Shumway are both in the second flight of their events,
MaKayla Schaeffer will compete in the girls long jump on Saturday, May 22 at 8:30 a.m.
Running events start with the 3200 on Friday, May 21 at 9:30 a.m. Brock Heath will be in the sixth race as the 3A girls race will start at 9:30.
At 11:30 a.m. the prelims start with no Prairie competitors until Kyler Shumway in the 100 meter dash which is the third event. Dalgliesh will be in the 400 which will be run after the 100 is finished. Next are the 300 hurdles with NaTosha Schaeffer.
The Parade of Athletes will  be held at 4:45 p.m.
On Saturday morning the running finals will be held starting with the girls 100 hurdles and boys 110 hurdles. Next will come the 4x200 relay in which Prairie has an entrant. Next is the finals of the 100, 800, 4x100 relay and 400 meter dash. After a break the 300 hurdles finals will be held then the 200 meter dash, 1600 and 4x400 relay.
Brock Heath qualified for state in the 800, 1600 and 3200.
NaTosha Schaeffer goes to state as District champion in the 300 hurdles and will also run in 3 relays.
