St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinics, Grangeville Physical Therapy and the other Our Health Our Community sponsors are reminding area residents about the free Our Health Our Community Triathlon training clinic next Tuesday, June 8 at the Super 8 Conference Center in Grangeville. The 90 minute workshop is being offered at no cost by Christine Hauger-Knight, Groaners Fitness Center.
Hauger-Knight is a personal trainer and fitness expert. She is currently in training for the World Duathlon championship in Scotland in September. The clinic is designed for people interested in participating in the Camas Prairie Triathlon on August 13 and 14 in Grangeville. The August 13 race is designed for younger people and the Saturday August 14 event is designed for adults. Distances in the adult component are a 300 yard swim, an eight mile bike ride and a three mile run.
“We’ll have race registration forms available at the triathlon clinic, but they’ll also be available through the SMHC Physical Therapy Department and through the other Our Health Our Community sponsors,” said Gary McEwen, PT. “Everyone is invited to our training workshop whether or not you plan on participating in the triathlon or are interested in learning about cross training and general physical fitness. Christine is an expert and a good person to learn from.”
The workshop will include information on proper equipment, basic weight training, stretching for the multi sport athlete, recovery during training, brick workouts, race week nutrition and planning for a triathlon
