Letters to the editor from this week's Chronicle:

To the Editor
Written to the tune "Tom Dooley"
Hang down your head North Central Idaho,
hang down your head and cry.
Hwy 12's about to turn into a mega-load Hwy, while the gov'ment sits idly by.
So now, let's get off our keister and do something, let's write ITD, to the editors and to "Butch".
Just say, "No way, we don't want them, we love our wild and scenic homeland the way it is!"
So, don't hang down your head North Central Idaho, now, don't hang down your head and cry!
There is a lot more going on here than just a couple hundred "big" semi's creeping through our wild and scenic river corridor!  What lies behind the loads as they pass through?  Is it perhaps the "Yellow Brick Road" paved for oil companies and others? Uh, huh, yep!
I don't relish having our fragile economic viability teeter and fall which very well could happen with the Oil Company's push.I am especially upset that our "Reps" would try to slide these gargantuan semi-loads by us. Perhaps they believe us Mountain Folk have our heads too deep in the woods. Uh, uh, nope!
