SMHC offers CPR/AED class
Karla Enneking, Certified CPR Instructor, will be teaching a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and AutomaticKarla Enneking will teach a free CPR/AED class for the public on September 22.  Enrollment is limited.  Register by calling SMHC, 962-3251.  She is pictured with an AED and one of the mannikins that will be used in the class. Electronic Defibrillator education class designed for the public on Wednesday, September 22 at Prairie Middle School from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Participants must preregister by calling St Mary’s Hospital, 962-3251.  
The class will be limited to ten participants to ensure that each student can perform CPR and learn how to use an AED with confidence and skill.  “If we have more than ten people wanting to enroll in the class we’ll take the additional names and contact information and set up a second class,” said Enneking.  “It is important to keep the class size limited so everyone will learn what they need to know to perform CPR or use an AED with confidence.”
Enneking is a staff member in the SMH Cardiac Rehab program.  She was an EMT for over 25 years.  Participants will view various segments of a filmed demonstration then replicate those with life size manikins.   A test at the end of class will provide a certification for those that pass.
The class is free through a grant from the Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program within the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.
