Rodeo team finishes fall portion of season
The Prairie High School Rodeo team finished up their fall season last weekend in Cambridge. Callie Mader turning her third barrel and heading for home.
Returning members are junior MaKayla Schaeffer and sophomores Callie Mader and Kelsey Tidwell. New to the team this year is junior Jared Arnzen from Craigmont.
Team members with points toward District III placing going into the spring rodeos are Callie, MaKayla and Kelsey. Points are earned at each rodeo and accumulated to go towards placing in their individual events and total points are tallied for all around cowboy/girl. Callie is sitting in 4th place over all with 68 pts and MaKayla is right behind her with 66 pts for 5th.
District III members placing in the top six of each individual event at year end will have earned their spot at State and a chance to go on to Nationals in June.
Spring rodeo dates have been set with the first being held in Weiser April 16th and 17th. The second rodeo will be in Lewiston at the Roundup grounds April 30th and May 1st. Finals will be held at the Rockin' Y Arena in Lewiston May 14th and 15th. There are still a lot of points out there and these standings could change quickly.
Feel free to come support these kids and remember that there is no admission into the rodeos.
