Local man arrested
On October 21, officers with the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, Cottonwood Police Department, and Idaho Attorney General’s Office executed a search warrant at 801 Adams Avenue in Cottonwood.  The search warrant was conducted as part of an investigation regarding the transfer of child pornography images over the internet begun by local ICAC task force members.
The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force is a statewide coalition of local, state and federal law enforcement as well as prosecution agencies focused on apprehending and prosecuting individuals who use the internet to criminally exploit children.
As a result of the search warrant a felony arrest warrant was issued for Nicholas J. Hattrup, age 28, of Cottonwood for 18 counts of possessing sexual exploitative material in violation of Idaho Code 18-1507A. Hattrup was arrested at his residence on October 22.  At this time investigators believe the images discovered were downloaded from the internet and not generated locally.
ICAC Task Force members involved in this investigation were Idaho Attorney General’s Office Criminal Investigator Jim Kouril, Moscow Police Department Detective Scott Gleason, and Idaho County Sheriff’s Office Detective Jerry Johnson.
Officers assisting the search warrant also included Lt. Doug Ulmer and Deputy Brian Hewson of the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office and Cottonwood Police Department Officer Wes Walters.
